We pay little attention to our teeth and gums when dealing with general health. High blood pressure, diabetes and a host of other illnesses are treated by a trip to the GP. Yet research is showing that gum disease can contribute to many illnesses and needs to be treated. Not only is it important that you brush your teeth, use floss and visit the dentist for regular cleaning it has also been found that there are certain nutritional supplements that can help fight gum and bone disease. These nutrients have been shown to reduce gum problems by up to 50%. So if you think that you are doing your best then perhaps you need to look at a nutritional programme to help with oral health and general health. These nutrients also play a part in the fight against cardiovascular disease, stroke and diabetes.
Here at the office we can discuss this with you and if you are receiving this through the website post your questions and I will do my best to answer them.

Body Harmony
With an increase in the number of people looking to heal themselves through many of the eastern arts and philosophies I thought that it would be a good idea to look at dental health from this viewpoint too. As a Red belt(Black equivalent) ex Kung Fu instructor, I understand only too well the need for balance within the system. The Chinese would argue that you need to be healthy to be fit, yet western philosophy attempts to use fitness to get healthy. Oral health and balance is so important to general health. Heavy metals used in fillings, poor unbalanced bites, lack of teeth or sick teeth linked to different organs of the body can give rise to blockages in the system and a lack of harmony and health. Normalisation can lead you back on the road to better health!
We would say: “Use attack as your indestructible spiritual strength” This goes for your health too! You can sit back and let it happen or you can do something about it. This includes a good healthy mouth, balanced bite and jaw joints that work in harmony with the neck and the rest of the spine!

Children's Health and Harmony
It is no mistake that we are given 32 teeth. Each tooth is important and has a role to play. Narrow jaws and crowded teeth are just the result of poor growth. Taking out teeth for orthodontic reasons may in fact make this worse. A functional expansion technique allows these 32 teeth to come into alignment many times without the need for extractions. The secret is to start early. When it comes to beauty a wide smile and happy comfortable face, functional orthodontics may well be the answer for your child.
