Headaches

As you know I have spent the last twenty years treating head, neck and back pain of dental origin. We continue to have success in this area and it is so gratifying to see people who have been everywhere done everything except dentistry get well as a result of our treatment.

However this is not all that we do.

Cosmetics, Summer is on the way!

Cosmetics is so important nowadays and while we offer white fillings, all porcelain crowns and veneers many people are unaware that a combination of bleaching and changing white fillings in the front teeth can make a major difference to the appearance of the mouth and face. An appeance that can be further complimented by ensuring that there are sufficient back teeth to give a good bite and support to the face. The height of the bite is so important and getting it right is like having a non surgical facelift!
So why not book in for a cosmetic consultation and see what we can offer you? Perhaps a great smile to go with your tan this summer?

Orthodontics, say no to extractions!

Talking of faces ... how about the children? Many people are unaware that not all crowded mouths need to be treated with extraction of teeth. In fact extraction should be the last option considered. Functional orthodontics is mostly a non extraction option that looks not only at the teeth but also at the face. Many children with crowded teeth have failed to grow adequately in the upper jaw. It is not a case of Daddy’s teeth or Mummy’s jaw that causes this problem but normal growth and development that may have been affected by circumstance. For example mouth breathing, milk allergies, dust and pollen etc

There is nothing worse than an extraction case where the upper teeth are pushed back, the lower jaw is weak and the facial profile a mess. Even worse is the prospect of headaches, neck and back pain in later life. While it may not be possible to prevent these it is certainly worth a try.
We work with the growth of the child and therefore start treatment when they are younger, expanding jaws as the body grows and referring out to osteopaths and chiropractors in cases where the rest of the body needs treating as well.

So if your children or those of friends and loved ones are looking for an alternative to extraction, braces and headgear perhaps we have another option for them!
Starting before the summer holidays gives your child the chance to get used to the appliances before returning to school.
